Google photos windows download

Ever since the changes have been made to Google drive, I am unable to automatically sync my google photos to my PC. I'm hoping there is a new way to do that?

Apparently you don't know about the many confusions, bugs, error and dangers reported on this forum since
But of course these Google bosses never tell the full truth and they seriously can be blamed that they did not provide a much better and more safe method - also suitable for their beloved Chromebooks.
However on Windows you completely can bypass Drive by installing the OneDrive-app on your phone for syncing your new pictures & movies straight into the Windows filemanager and from there these files should be moved manually to your backupfolders to prevent cluttering in the OneDrive cloud (5 GB max).
Then you have full quality on computer without additional costs and a very safe uni-directional sync.
Unfortunately there is not at this time. Please submit feedback to the Photos Team:
  1. Open the Google Photos app  on a mobile device or go to bharathealthcares.com using a computer.
  2. At the top left, touch or click the menu icon  > Help & Feedback.
  3. Touch or click Feedback.
Please be as detailed as possible with your feedback.

There have been no changes on Google Drive itself, but the old Google Drive Sync app is exchanged by the Backup & Sync app from Google.
But it makes no sense anymore to start with that app because the optional Google Photos folder in Drive soon will stop functioning and it is not clear from your description if you ever have switched-on that option.
It can be done via other apps, but then you must be more clear about your situation and if your are on modern Windows or on modern Mac.

What I don't understand is, Google appears to still auto download/sync photos from Google Photos to my Android tablet, but not to my PC!

Richard, Google Photos isn't "downloading" photos to your Android, when you look in the app you're seeing photos that are stored on the Google Photos servers, they're not stored on the phone itself (except ones you took with the device camera obviously). This is the same as the PC, just there you view the images on the website since there's no "app" for a PC.

Found solution, hopefully it works for others using Pixel phones.
Apps & notifications
Select Google Photos
Under heading Store
App details -app installed from Google store.
Then the word update will show up.
This will reinstall Google photos and all photos that were downloaded via PC should show up in photos  section
