ProLiant Support Packs represent operating system (OS) specific bundles of ProLiant optimized drivers, utilities, and management agents. ProLiant Support Packs provide customers with a ProLiant system software baseline that has already been tested and verified by HP. Users can standardize upon a particular release of a ProLiant Support Pack as a base level for the servers throughout their environment. In addition to the baseline capabilities inherent with ProLiant Support Packs, HP provides tools that make deploying the software updates to ProLiant servers throughout the environment easy. For the Microsoft Windows Server Server 2008, Server 2008 for x64 Editions, Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Windows XP 64 Professional, and Server 2003 for x64 Editions environment, we provide a deployment utility named HP Smart Update Manager which allows customers to deploy software updates delivered within ProLiant Support Packs to remote servers on a one to many basis. The HP Smart Update Manager is automatically downloaded as part of the ProLiant Support Pack.

Installation:
Important: The ProLiant Support Pack for Microsoft Windows XP x64 contains numerous files. All files must be present in the same directory as the HPSUM.EXE program or in order for the Support Pack to be installed properly.

Primary Installation Method

  • Run the HPSUM.EXE or SETUP.EXE program included with the Support Pack.
    Note: By default, all software is selected for installation. In most circumstances this default selection should not be altered.
  • Click the "Install" button to proceed with the installation.
    Note: Even when selected, only software that is appropriate for the system it is being run on will actually be installed. After installation of the appropriate software, the utility will display its results, including indication of software successfully installed, software not needed for the current system configuration, and any installation failures.

   ** Important Note..  The nVidia Graphics drivers included may not be used to update or reinstall a current nVidia driver.  This driver must be manually removed before install or that component will fail.  Even if that component fails, all other component    will still run and update.

Command Prompt Installation
  • A BPXXXXXX.CMD file is also provided with the Support Pack for use in installing the Support Pack from a command prompt without user interaction. As with the HPSUM.EXE program, all software appropriate for the system it is being run on will be installed.
For additional usage information, refer to the BPXXXXXX.TXT file included in this Bundle Package.

Note: If you install a PSP and then install an operating system Service Pack or other operating system updates, HP recommends reinstalling the PSP.

Fixed issue with System Management Homepage and Version Control agent not installing correctly. Primary symptom of this issue includes the Version Control agent failing install because the System Management Homepage was not loaded when running a full install of the Support Pack. This issue has been resolved in this release.
