How do i use my GTX 1060 instead of Microsoft Basic Render Driver? And how do i set up my PC properly? (Windows 10)

So, i got a brand new prebuilt PC. It worked pretty well and all, but my graphics card was pretty bad. It all started when purple cubes started flickering on my screen. Turns out, that was the graphics card's fault. And i realized, i wanted to play Subnautica when it told me that my Graphics card didn't meet the minimum requirements. Shocked and confused, i clicked on the info box and it said my Graphics Card was "Microsoft Basic Render Driver". I thought the right thing to do was install some graphics card drivers for my GTX 1060 6GB so it would recognize my Graphics Card. And i did just that. But guess what? I restart the PC and there is no screen that shows. Eventually, i realized, i had f**ked the Graphics Card completely. The company who built the PC will soon send me a replacement Graphics Card, because warranty.

But i need YOUR help. How do i set up my Graphics Card? Where did i go wrong? Was it because i immediately plugged in my PC and booted it up? (keep in mind windows 10 was pre installed.) Or did i do everything right, installing the drivers and all but it was the fault of the Graphics Card itself? Help me here, please. I would appreciate some answers.
