Protect Yourself From Tech Support Scams

Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an official Microsoft global customer service number.

The GT 710 is compatible, but is has a separate Windows 10 driver. http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/103913

Try un-installing your Windows 7 driver and force the Appraiser to run or rerun / update the compatibilty appraiser results by going to the command prompt and entering:

schtasks.exe   /Run   /TN   "\Microsoft\Windows\Application Experience\Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser"

Then see if you can complete the upgrade and install the GT 710 Windows 10 driver.

Incompatible Video card.

Uninstall Video Card adapter.

Note: Some older video cards might be incompatible with Windows. It likely means the graphics adapter has or is approaching End of Life status which limits the level of support the manufacturer can provide. The card will likely function just fine for general purposes, just don't expect it to work well for scenarios such as playing games. There might even be glitches with certain casual games not working well at all.

If the Get Windows 10 app still prevents installation after uninstalling the card, try using the ISO media to upgrade:

If you installed a new video card without uninstalling the old video card, you might have reinstall the old card, then uninstall it properly through device manager.

Check the manufacturers website to find out the status of the video card. Check if there are at least Windows 8.1 drivers available. If there are no drivers available or manufacturer support options, you should purchase a new video card.

Thanks JW, your windows 10 driver link takes me to the driver (368.39, 6/7/2016) I have already installed. Having run the compatibility appraiser following this I still get the same message that the GT710 isn't compatible with Windows.

Thanks, Richard

Thanks Andre, the new graphics card (GT710) is fully Windows 10 compatible and the installed driver is the latest available and also windows 10 compatible. The second part of your answer, i.e. thoroughly uninstalling the old graphics "card", may be a good idea, but as this is integrated on the ASUS motherboard, I am currently consulting ASUS tech support about this.

Thanks, Richard

You should be able to disable the integrated graphics via a BIOS setting.
