TOSHIBA Laptop Satellite L675D-S7040 AMD Athlon II Dual-Core P340 (2.20 GHz) 4 GB Memory 320 GB HDD ATI Radeon HD 4250 17.3" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Pros: AMD Dual core handles most everything well, plenty of drive space, decent integrated video.
17.3" 1600x900 resolution, is personally preferable to the current standard 720 displays.
Not very heavy at all. I have an Asus G60vx 16", and this is lighter. A very portable, attractive 17.3".
Runs cool, doesn't sear your legs.
It's a Toshiba, this model looks and feels solid. Testament to the brand.
Considerable value overall.
Wifi is solid, no drops.
Easy memory, and HDD/SSD access.
Cons: No HDMI output, only VGA output for a second monitor- I knew, but it's something worth mentioning.
Limited selection of 17.3" bags, still.
Toshiba's 320gb 5400RPM drive is slow, very slow.
No OS disc's included(not many current laptops do either)
This doesn't have the "chic-let/island" style keyset, but for the price, it's not expected.
The bloatware.
Overall Review: I actually didn't purchase it, and it wasn't purchased here but the model numbers match. I helped my mother select this model out over the i7's/i5/C2D's(She had a store credit-and I knew what I was going to do to it). Initially it was slow to boot, and and was honestly sluggish(but I'm computer snob).
I then imaged and slipped a new SSD(bought here) in. This laptop now easily holds it's own . To my Mom, it's now among the i7's with faster drives, and 1K+ price tags. And she 'paid' more for her's, than what Newegg has it. She couldn't be happier.
I can't comment on battery life before the upgrade, as it was never properly/seriously tested before.
I am seriously considering purchasing this and another SSD upgrade for my kids.
