Lenovo Camera Unavailable
Lenovo systems (running Windows OS) may utilize Lenovo-specific software that can hide your camera's video with a layered image of an unavailable camera:
To use your Lenovo camera for web conferencing, please follow the steps outlined below.
If your computer utilizes the Lenovo Vantage software (Windows 10):
- From your Windows Start menu, search Lenovo Vantage.
- Click the Lenovo Vantage program to open.
- Note: If the Lenovo Vantage program is not installed on your computer, you can install it from the Microsoft Store.
- Navigate to Hardware Settings -> Audio/Visual.
- Scroll down to locate the Camera Privacy Mode section and toggle the setting to Off.
If your computer utilizes the Lenovo Settings software (Windows 8.1 / Windows 10):
- From your Windows Start menu, search Lenovo Settings.
- Click the Lenovo Settings program to open.
- Note: If the Lenovo Settings program is not installed on your computer, you can install it from the Microsoft Store.
- Navigate to the Camera tab.
- Scroll down to locate the Privacy Mode section, and toggle the setting to Off.
If your computer utilizes the Lenovo Communications Utility (Windows 7):
- Press the Start button on your taskbar and search for Lenovo - Web Conferencing or Communications Utility.
- Open the corresponding application to launch the Communications Utility menu.
- Note: If the Lenovo Communications Utility is not installed on your computer, you can download it from Lenovo.
- Click on the Camera settings tab and select Show my video image.
- The layered image hiding your video image will now be removed.
- In order to change the setting, please exit out of any other program that can use the camera.
- Depending on the version of your Lenovo system, the name of the program may differ.
