In order to do that, I had to factory reset it, remove all bloatware, install an SD card to be used for the libraries (documents, videos, music, photos, ...)
Remove all previously installed versions (prior to updates) of windows, … see more I have succeeded in installing the latest windows 10 Fall Creators Update!
In order to do that, I had to factory reset it, remove all bloatware, install an SD card to be used for the libraries (documents, videos, music, photos, ...)
Remove all previously installed versions (prior to updates) of windows,
Delete and uninstall a whole bunch of stuff you don't need. Empty your browsing history.
Get WIndows to install the creator update, until it gives you a window telling 'there's not enough space'.
Redo the procedure (second time it downloads the Fall Creators Update).
This time there will be an option for external harddrive.
It does not accept the MicroSD card, so you'll need an empty USB flash drive, or an external harddrive, with at least 10GB of free space on it.
Make sure you have approx 7.6GB available on the internal ssd. If not, empty trash, clean HD, uninstall all apps you don't need like office, (but keep the drivers).
Follow instructions to disable hibernation.sys file
Remove swap file (make it size zero, or allocate it to an external drive temporarily).
When the PC restarts, it will install the Fall Creators Update via the USB stick (or external HD).
It takes a long time.
After it finishes, there should be 2,5GB of free space left on the drive.
Remove previous installations of Windows (use disk cleanup with admin privileges).
Now you should have about 7GB available.
Basically, you can install the 2017 Fall Creators Update of Windows 10, but not much more free space left.
I'm also looking into the option of creating a copy of the drive on a 64GB eMMC drive; but first will need to take the thing apart, and this will take a lot of time. see less I have succeeded in installing the latest windows 10 Fall Creators Update!
