Protect Yourself From Tech Support Scams

Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an official Microsoft global customer service number. 

I original posted this in the technet forum but I think it should have been posted here as I didnt get an answer.  I am not an IT person and I think this is the proper forum for me.

I have a Dell Latitude c with XP and have maxed it out with SSD, wifi-N, 2gb, etc. It works pretty good and I went to Dell and downloaded their win7x32 "Reinstall OS". This software is for Dell owners with later model systems that need a replacement DVD. Obviously, this does not apply to me as the C is pre-vista but I burned the DVD and install Dell's win7x  It installed over the partition (I did not do an upgrade) just fine and it found drivers for the dell devices, chipset, etc, for the C w/o haveing to download from the MS update center.

 

It has been 2 days and all the drivers work fine and the laptop seems to be working perfectly.  I would like to activate it.  Can I buy a win7x32 home premium key and just enter the key in?  Can I do an "upgrade to ultimate" or "pro"?  How do I go about activating this one I got installed?

Microsoft no longer provides Windows 7 Home Premium as a digital download, you will have to purchase a retail box upgrade license and enter the product key.

Where can I still get Windows 7?

When you receive the package.

You can re-enter your key by going to Start, type bharathealthcares.com 3 in the search box and press enter.

Click Next to activate over the Internet.

If you want to upgrade to a higher edition, use Anytime Upgrade.
